Robert Baker, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist at Gastroenterology Specialists of Orlando. He has practiced gastroenterology for over 25 years in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Baker completed his undergraduate degree in biology from Florida A&M University in 1979. He then attended the University of Florida School of Medicine, completing his doctorate in 1982. Dr. Baker went on to complete his sub-specialty training in gastroenterology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. During his fellowship at Tulane University, he was accepted into the prestigious Musser-Burch Honor Society.

After completing his fellowship in 1988, Dr. Baker moved to Orlando and immediately opened a successful practice in gastroenterology. In 1990, he was asked to join the largest gastroenterology group in Central Florida, where he served as the Managing Partner, moving the practice forward into new endeavors and making significant fiscal strides. He is also the co-owner of Citrus Ambulatory Surgery Center and Central Florida Surgical Center and previously served on the governing board. He has also served as Chief of Gastroenterology and as a teaching attending at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Baker offers years of expertise to his patients at Gastroenterology Specialists of Orlando. where he treats a full range of gastroenterology conditions with advanced techniques. From routine colonoscopy procedures to minimally invasive hemorrhoid banding, and treatment for conditions such as GERD, hepatitis, and irritable bowel syndrome, Dr. Baker takes the utmost care to accurately diagnose and create personalized treatment plans for his patients. As a result of his expertise, he has been recognized for excellence in practice and has published scientific articles in his field.

Dr. Baker is active in his community, regularly donating and giving his time to many charities and organizations, specifically those targeting environmental conservation, health disparities, and minority youth programs. His interests include art appreciation and world travel. He also considers himself a cognac connoisseur and audiophile jazz aficionado. He enjoys family time with his wife and two daughters.
